Sales Team
Rolly Rhodes
President
A San Joaquin Valley resident all his life, he attended Point Loma Nazarene University and completed his education at Cal State University Bakersfield, Rolly entered the insurance industry in 1980 adjusting property claims for the national firm of Crawford and Company. A year later he accepted a sales position with a local agency, and by 1984 he had established what is now Fallgatter Rhodes Insurance Services, Inc. Rolly is a member of Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association, chairman of the Citizen Oversight Committee for the $200 million bond, and is a Kern County Student Leadership volunteer teaching young high school students leadership skills. Rolly has been married to Claudia since 1978. They have raised two children, Chad and Kendra, and have recently taken on the new titles of father and mother in-law with their son’s marriage to Carly Swift in June of 2006 and their daughter’s marriage to Duncan Harris in 2008.
John Fallgatter
Problem Solver
A native of Kern County, John is a graduate of San Diego State University. He has been in the insurance industry since 1973 and Partnered with Rolly Rhodes in 1993. In 2003 he became a Certified Work Comp Advisor. Over the years, John has been involved in many community organizations and is currently a member of Bakersfield West Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Business Association. He and his wife Sweet Sue are the proud parents of six boys and four grandchildren.
Gregory Eldon Hash
Vice President
Greg has been in the insurance industry since 1976. He first joined his father, C.J. Hash, in the Insurance Business in 1976 after completing his education at the University of California Santa Barbara. General Liability & Workers Compensation for the Construction & Farming Industries of the Central Valley are just some of the areas of expertise for Greg who has been instrumental in the growth of the agency. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association of Kern County and Goodwill Industries. He and his wife Betty have two children.
Greg Sceales
Vice President
Born and raised in Bakersfield and a graduate of North High School, Greg entered the insurance business in 1979 joining his father, owner of Sceales and Associates Insurance Services. After 25 years, Greg purchased the agency in 2004 upon his father’s retirement. In July of 2008 Greg merged Sceales and Associates with Fallgatter Rhodes Insurance Services creating a stronger more diversified agency. With 30 years experience, Greg enjoys consulting with his clients, providing insurance solutions for the purpose of protecting their commercial and personal assets. Greg has strong ties to the community, loves spending time with his family riding motorcycles, playing with their sand toys and training at the gym. Greg and his wife Joni have raised their son, Zach, who is a senior at Cal-State Bakersfield majoring in business.
David Sullivan
Sales Agent
Born and raised in Bakersfield, David has been conducting business in Southern and Central California since 1998. He holds a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in English and an emphasis in Agribusiness from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He attended University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and his primary focus was on contracts and construction case law. David is a certified Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist and a graduate of the Hartford School of Insurance. As an associate at Fallgatter Rhodes Insurance Services, David specializes in agriculture, construction and surety. He is a current member of the Kern County Farm Bureau and the Home Builders Association.
Chad Rhodes
Sales Agent
Chad was born and raised in Bakersfield California. For seven years prior to joining Fallgatter Rhodes Insurance Services in May of 2008, he supervised the harvesting of 10,000 acres of almonds for a local custom harvester, and performed specialized stainless steel fabrication for sanitation and food processing during his college years. Chad attended Bakersfield College and Northwest Nazarene University of Idaho in pursuit of a Forestry degree. As a graduate of “The Ultimate Producer School”, Chad specializes in insuring agricultural and addiction treatment businesses. Chad is an adult volunteer with the Kern County Student Leadership program which provides mentoring and training of ethics and leadership skills for our youth. He also contributes his time to numerous Kiwanis’ service projects improving the lives of our children with special needs. He is a member of the Kern County Farm Bureau and was recently elected as Director of the Independent Brokers and Agents of Kern County. Chad is happily married to Carly Swift, his high school sweetheart and enjoys horses, hunting, fishing, and Barbequing with family and friends.

Melissa Vance, CISR
Risk Placement Manager
Spanning over twenty years in the insurance industry, Melissa brings a broad knowledge base to the agency that has helped to bring major advances to both the breadth and quality of Fallgatter Rhodes’s product portfolio. Melissa is responsible for overseeing placement of commercial policies which gives our clients access to 50 of the best standard surplus lines insurance companies. No account is too small or too large. She is able to place commercial coverage ranging in premiums of $500 to $5,000,000.

Mirella Alvarez

Mirella has been in the insurance industry since 2005. She has worked in personal lines and has extensive knowledge in homeowners, auto, mobile homes, and umbrella coverage. She specializes in workers comp. for both small and large businesses.
Sue Hintz, ACSR
Commercial Lines Manager, Notary Public
Sue has been in the insurance industry since 1979. 18 years of that time was spent with Prudential Insurance working in the life and small group health claims. In 1998 she transitioned into the commercial part of the industry after obtaining her California Property & Casualty license. Sue obtained a degree in Business Administration in 2002. She also earned the Accredited Customer Service Representative designation in 2005 and became a Notary in 2006. Sue joined Fallgatter Rhodes Insurance in January 2006 as the Commercial Lines Manager.

Karenda Gilman, ACSR

Karenda started her insurance career in 1982. Karenda has worked in almost every aspect of the insurance field. Her career began in personal lines and later transitioned into claims; it is here that she developed significant knowledge and expertise in the commercial and agribusiness insurance field. She has put her knowledge and people skills to use by working for several agents in the commercial lines department as well as handling the commercial line’s claims.

Bonnie is a Notary Public and holds the highly respected CISR and CIC designations. She has a Business Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Bakersfield. Bonnie's extensive background in insurance and business will help clients make good, sound insurance decisions.

Duncan Harris

Duncan has been a resident of Bakersfield for most of his life and graduated from Centennial High School in 2003. His passion for aviation led him to earn an aviation management degree from the University of North Dakota where he graduated with honors in 2007. Upon graduation he accepted a position with Kern County Department of Airports. A year later he was hired as manager of Epic Jet Center and Bakersfield Air Charter Maintenance Department. Duncan joined the Fallgatter Rhodes team in April 2009 and works in the Benefits Department helping small business and individuals find solutions to their health insurance needs. He also helps clients’ with life, dental, vision, disability, and long term care insurance.

Linda Hoffman is our Personal Lines Manager. Linda entered the insurance industry in 1982 and spent the first 26 years with Sceales & Associates Insurance. She originally started as a receptionist/ claims representative and obtained her Property & Casualty license in 1984. Linda also became a Notary Public in 1995. She spends her spare time with husband Dan & their 5 grandchildren. Her special hobbies are competitive trapshooting, gardening, and spoiling those grandchildren.

Melinda has been the providing protection for clients since 1984. Her extensive knowledge of markets and underwriters makes her elite in this industry.
Born and raised locally, Melinda was introduced to insurance by both her father and brother, who owned Sceales and Associates Insurance Services. Melinda and her husband, Jeff Van Scoy, enjoy RVing, water skiing, spending time with family, and their two dogs, Tootsie and Lucy.

Gail Lack
Accounting Department
Gail has worked in accounting for a wide variety of business over the last 40 years. She worked in small accounting firms, for a local general contractor, and even on a thoroughbred horse ranch, and now she has taken the reins of the accounting department here at Fallgatter Rhodes. She and her husband have a cabin in the Southern Sierras which allows her to indulge in her favorite pastimes—exploring on her ATV, quiet time for reading, and developing her recent interest in knitting. They have raised two young men, one in college and one in the US Air Force.
